Youth Classes

Children as young as 8-years-old learn how to sew at Making It SewFun!

Our Curriculum

We exclusively use the  Kids Can Sew® and Fashion Design program to teach children how to sew. It is a complete machine sewing curriculum designed especially for kids. Under the direction of caring instructors, students practice hands-on foundational skills to make garments, crafts, gifts, and home decorating items. Students learn at their own pace and progressively gain confidence as their skill level grows with each project. Classes are taught in a creative and encouraging environment with small class sizes to ensure individual attention.

Class Format

Each student receives a full-color workbook and a pattern pack with an assortment of clothing and crafts projects. The patterns and workbooks feature animated pictures and easy-to-read instructions that even the youngest reader can follow. Students master the skills in each workbook then express their individuality by re-designing their patterns or expand their sewing knowledge by using store-bought patterns. Classes are appropriate for both girls and boys 8-12 years old. Teen classes are also available; click on the menu bar above to learn more.
